From the beginning, SelecTech’s mission as a business was to create valuable products from scrap plastics. Since 1993, we have been recognized around the country for executing superior and creative products using state-of-the-art technology and innovative designs. With these principles in mind, we created a number of lab flooring options that contribute to LEED points.
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a set of building guidelines developed by the US Green Building Council which is the acknowledged standard for green development. The idea behind these points is to reduce our environmental impact and enhance the standard of life for those utilizing the spaces within a building. SelecTech’s flooring for labs can contribute to LEED certification in a number of ways. FreeStyle flooring has some of the highest levels of recycled content of any product available, which means the more flooring you purchase, the more points that could be rewarded to your building.
How do we do it?
- SelecTech Flooring products are made with up to 50% recycled materials.
- FreeStyle and SelecTile are manufactured in VT and OhmStyle is made in GA, which can contribute to regional manufacturing points.
- Our unique interlocking system allows for easy dis- and re-assembly if and when you change locations of your lab or commercial space.
- SelecTech will recycle all cutting waste from installation process if sent back.
- Our free-lay design to reduce installation requirements including underlayments and emissions from adhesives.
Not only are we looking to change the flooring industry, but we are also continuously searching for new solutions that are environmentally sound. By leading the effort to improve our world, we hope other businesses, homeowners, and professionals alike will follow.
